Applied Ethics+ is a full-time ten-week summer learning experience working with ground-breaking host organizations addressing pressing real-world challenges in policy, technology, research, and ethics.  Students learn how to critically assess policy and ethical issues related to research and technology with hosts who are leaders in shaping society through science and technology.

The initiative builds on Duke’s leadership in climate, energy, and sustainability, aiming to educate and empower a new generation of innovators to create just, equitable solutions for a sustainable future.

Code+ is a 10-week co-curricular summer program for Duke undergraduates, offering hands-on coding experience in a peer-driven, project-based setting. Students work in teams on real-world challenges, guided by IT professionals, and gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies. Ideal for those with little tech experience, it provides valuable skills and career opportunities with top tech companies.

CS+

CS+ engages Duke undergraduates in computer science research with faculty in a dynamic, supportive environment. Students work in teams of three to four, mentored by both a faculty lead and a graduate student. The program offers a rich introduction to computer science research and real-world applications beyond the classroom.

Data+ is a hands-on research experience for undergraduates and master’s students eager to tackle interdisciplinary challenges using data-driven methods. Students collaborate in small teams, learning to analyze, visualize, and interpret data while gaining exposure to the field of data science in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. Open to all majors and class years.

Doc+

Doc+ is a six-week summer program hosted by the Center for Documentary Studies. Students explore documentary mediums like film, photography, and audio, collaborating on projects with creative mentors. Through hands-on workshops and teamwork, students gain practical skills and contribute to impactful documentary work.

History+ is a 10-week mentored research program for Duke undergraduates, where student teams work with graduate students and faculty mentors. Participants will develop teamwork and historical research skills while engaging with community partners to apply their academic knowledge in real-world contexts.

Math+

Math+ is an eight-week summer program for collaborative undergraduate research in mathematics at Duke. Students work in small teams, guided by a faculty mentor and graduate assistant, on a single project in pure or applied mathematics. Required technical background is kept to a minimum, and all Duke undergraduate students are welcome.
